John and Graham had planned meticulously for John’s retirement, ensuring that his operational role as a leading broker in his own right was gradually reduced over time and that staff were developed and recruited. Their aim was to ensure the continuation of Oil Brokerage’s reputation for the highest standards of service to their clients.

In tandem with the operational matters, John also required an exit from his shareholding in Oil Brokerage. Through a colleague, they made contact with Peter Counsell at Meta Corporate Finance, with a brief initially to provide assistance on value and possible deal structure. Meta’s role then expanded to the project management and execution of John’s exit and the consolidation of Graham’s position with new investors in a new corporate structure.
